Connections
Under Connections you connect the object with records that already exist in CONTXT. This does not create a new record for the object.
What is where?
| Area | What you use it for |
|---|---|
| Images | Pictures of the object and their captions. |
| Groupings | Collections are the institution's holdings, such as "Keramik". Lists are for tasks or topics, such as "Photo shoot October". |
| Exhibition history | Exhibitions and showings the object is assigned to. |
| Related entities | Connections to other objects, people or organizations that have their own record. Explain the relationship in a note. |
| Subject matter | What the object shows or deals with, as themes, motifs and keywords, such as "Landscape". |
| Sources | Literature and web links, each with the exact place. |
| Documents | Files such as object sheets, correspondence or certificates. |
Choose who made the object in the Object data. Record former owners in the Provenance. A general connection to a person says nothing about these roles.
Connect an object or a person
- Open Connections → Related entities.
- Choose Add object or Add person or organization and search for the existing entry.
- Explain the relationship under Notes and choose Add relationship.
Use the pencil icon to edit or remove the connection. The connected record itself is kept.
Add to a collection or list
- Open Groupings and choose Add collection or Add to list.
- Choose the target and confirm.
If the collection or list does not exist yet, choose Create new collection or Create new list. Enter a name, and for a collection also the Responsible unit. Create and add creates it and adds the object straight away.
To add several objects at once, use Add to… in the object register. How to add objects to an exhibition is shown in Prepare an exhibition.
